AboutGladys Henriquez
Mental Health Counselor, Limited Permit (MHC-LP)
I believe therapy works best when you feel heard, respected, and able to be honest about what is really happening in your life.
Many people come to therapy already knowing what is hurting, what has been difficult, or what they want to change. The harder part can be understanding why certain patterns keep repeating, figuring out what to do differently, and having the support to make those changes.
My role is to help you look at what is happening with curiosity and without judgment. Together, we can make sense of the experiences, relationships, emotions, and patterns that may be affecting you and explore what you want moving forward.
I bring warmth, honesty, curiosity, and a genuine belief in people’s ability to grow. I will pay attention to what is difficult, but I will also pay attention to what is already strong in you, including the strengths you may not always recognize in yourself.
For me, counseling is about understanding the whole person. Your experiences, relationships, culture, environment, strengths, and the things you have been through all matter. I want our work to give you space to feel understood, learn more about yourself, and make changes that feel right for your life.

Therapy should feel like a real conversation
I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be honest, curious, and fully yourself.
I start by listening to how you understand your own life. I may ask questions, help you notice patterns, or invite you to look at something from a different angle, but our work is collaborative. I am not here to tell you who you are or what your life should look like.
We will pay attention to what feels helpful and what does not. If something we try is not working for you, I want to know, and we’ll adjust.
Depending on what feels useful, our sessions may include creative or expressive activities, mindfulness, or movement in addition to conversation.
I also respect your pace. Some things become clear quickly. Other parts need more time.
I want to understand the life around the problem
What you are feeling does not happen in isolation.
Your relationships, family, culture, work, school, environment, faith, and past experiences can all shape how you understand yourself and respond to what is happening now.
That is why I try to understand more than the symptom or problem that brought you to therapy. Sometimes what makes the most sense only becomes clear when we look at the bigger picture.

The counselor behind Lovely Days
I earned my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from NYU Steinhardt and have supervised counseling experience working with children and families, teens, and adults.
I am also a Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator and the Founder and Executive Director of Discover and Grow, a nonprofit focused on social and emotional learning for children, parents, educators, and schools.
My work across counseling, families, schools, and community programs continues to shape the way I understand people and the environments around them. I also continue developing my knowledge of expressive arts-informed counseling and other creative approaches that can support self-expression, reflection, and exploration in therapy.
I provide counseling under supervision through Being Unbound Mental Health Counseling, PLLC. Lovely Days Counseling is the public-facing name of this website and my counseling work.

Start with a conversation
Finding the right therapist can be difficult. A free 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk and see whether we are a good match.
You can tell me a little about what brings you here, ask questions, and get a sense of how I work. We can also talk about session options, fees, insurance, and anything else you would like to know before getting started.
From there, you can decide whether working together feels like the right next step.
